Job Role
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, stack, load, and unload goods within the warehouse or production facility. The role ensures safe handling of inventory, adherence to safety standards, and efficient support of warehouse operations. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, reliable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
2. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- Ensure safe and efficient movement of goods.
- Support warehouse operations and logistics processes.
- Maintain accurate handling and documentation of inventory.
- Contribute to timely dispatch and delivery of products.
- Uphold workplace safety standards and equipment care.
3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Equipment Operation & Safety
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct daily equipment checks and report maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and workplace regulations.
B. Inventory Handling
- Load, unload, and transport goods within warehouse and production areas.
- Stack and organize products to optimize storage space.
- Assist in maintaining accurate stock levels by following inventory procedures.
C. Documentation & Reporting
- Record movement of goods in warehouse systems.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of items handled.
- Report discrepancies or damages promptly to supervisors.
D. Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with warehouse staff to meet operational targets.
- Support logistics and supply chain processes by ensuring timely movement of goods.
- Assist in preparing goods for dispatch and delivery.
E. Process Improvement
- Suggest improvements for warehouse efficiency and safety.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualification
4. QUALIFICATIONS
- KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator license/certification.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and warehouse procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
