Job Role

The Oxygen Plant Support Operative provides operational and general support within the oxygen plant environment. The role assists with routine plant activities, housekeeping, material handling, basic inspections, and safe operation support under the direction of qualified plant personnel.

2. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• Support safe and efficient oxygen plant operations.
• Assist plant operators with routine operational activities.
• Support monitoring and reporting of abnormal conditions.
• Maintain clean and organized plant areas.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.

3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Plant Operations Support

• Assist oxygen plant operators with routine operational activities.
• Support basic plant inspections as directed.
• Observe equipment and report unusual conditions.
• Assist with movement and handling of required materials.
• Follow operating instructions provided by authorized personnel.

B. Monitoring & Reporting

• Report leaks, unusual noises, equipment abnormalities, or other concerns.
• Support routine operational checks.
• Communicate issues promptly to the supervisor.

C. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all plant safety procedures.
• Wear appropriate PPE.
• Follow oxygen handling and restricted-area requirements.
• Participate in safety briefings and training.
• Report hazards and incidents immediately.

D. Housekeeping & Equipment Support

• Maintain cleanliness around the oxygen plant.
• Assist with basic cleaning and equipment support activities.
• Ensure tools and materials are properly stored.

Qualification

4. QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum KCSE qualification or equivalent.
• Technical training in mechanical, electrical, plant operations, or a related field is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial plant, or utilities environment is an advantage.
• Ability to follow strict safety procedures.
• Willingness to work shifts.
